This course took 3 years to be approved by the BLM. You will be running on a trail that has been in existence for 40 years and never had a race on it. It is in great condition. During the run you will pass through herds of Pronghorn Antelope, Dear and Elk. Running the along the western portion of the untamed Yampa River to the back door of the Dinosaur National Monument. You will be following in the footsteps of the dinosaurs. The high desert views are stunning.

The race will begin at the Juniper Hot Springs and run over Juniper Mountain into the Bitter Bush Wildlife area and then cross US40 and follow the Yampa River up and over Cross Mountain. The race will turn around on the west side of Cross Mountain and the follow the return route.
This is a 100 mile race through the high desert of Northwest Colorado. You follow the untamed Yampa River to Dinosaur National Monument.
Total elevation gain is approximately 8,000 feet. You will have temperature variations from 30 degrees to 100 degrees in a single day. The course ranges from mountains to sand desert. The desert is where this race will teach you a lesson and test your emotional strength.
